Many of you will now be aware that following the advice of the Church of England, all church services across the country are now being suspended and this will also mean that Sunday and mid week services in our three churches of St Andrew, St Matthew and St Anne have been suspended until further notice. All other group meetings and social gatherings have also been cancelled.
This is obviously very upsetting but although the church will not function as it used to, the church as the body of Christ is still very much alive! We will continue to pray and take a part in ensuring that the most vulnerable are not forgotten.
We had hoped to be have our churches open for people to come in to light a candle, say a prayer or perhaps just to sit for a while, but as of yesterday (22nd March) this too has been suspended. However, this does not mean the end of the church but it does mean that church will look different for the time being. The people of God will continue to pray and worship, but they will be scattered, not gathered. Clergy will also continue to say daily prayer morning and evening as they have always done, so please join us at home by using the Daily Prayer app (free download) or follow it on line at www.churchofengland.org
Please be assured of our prayers at this difficult time and may God bless you and may you know that he is with you wherever you are.
